Welcome to Northwest Park and Nature Preserve

Located in historic Windsor, Connecticut, USA, Northwest Park and Nature Preserve is a 473-acre Municipal Park owned and operated by the Town of Windsor, Connecticut and is within the Department of Recreation and Leisure Services. From its beginning in 1972, much of what once was tobacco farmland has been converted to biologically diverse forests and fields embedded with streams and many pristine views – areas that are accessible by 12 miles of hiking trails. The mission of Northwest Park is to maintain, enhance and protect habitat for native species, while providing educational and passive recreational opportunities for the public through a municipal park.

Northwest Park will strive to remain an accessible “living classroom” with a diverse habitat that ties Windsor’s past to the present, while showcasing the future. Educational and passive recreational experiences will be offered everyday for persons of all ages and abilities, while serving as a model of land management, wildlife conservation and sustainable practices.. Our address is 145 Lang Road, Windsor, CT.

The Friends of Northwest Park is a non-profit 501(c)3 corporation devoted to cooperating with the Town to promote and preserve the environmental beauty of the park, to maintain the Nature Center, and to providing public nature programs of many kinds for the benefit of our visitors.

Our next concert! Rani Arbo & daisy mayhem

Saturday, December 10, 7:30, $20!

Reserve your seats here online below, or Call the Nature Center for ticket reservations (860-285-1886). Simply print your Pay Pal receipt and bring it to the concert – that serves as your ticket!

Looking for a little light as the days get darker? Come party with Rani Arbo & daisy mayhem as they release WINTERSONG – a Christmas CD that skips the holiday canon and digs up the power and beauty at the roots of this ancient holiday. Like New Englanders in wintertime, WINTERSONG summons two responses to the dark: reflection and celebration. Hole up and think about your life, then go out and party.

The band’s December 10 CD release at Northwest Park features plenty of both, from danceable, electric guitar- and banjo-driven carols and songs, to hushed Tennyson and Longfellow settings, to fiddle-driven New Year’s shouts from the Georgia Sea Islands and Louisiana. The sum of these parts is a surprising winter journey full of fierce poetry, wild joy and hope for humanity. Hope you can join us.
